PEGI has listed Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve with a PEGI 16 rating and a pre-release date of 30 May 2026, putting Bandai Namco’s next Ace Combat game back in view just as fans look for a real launch timeline. The listing covers PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and it is the clearest sign yet that the series is edging toward an official release announcement.
The timing matters because Ace Combat readers have been waiting for a concrete date ever since the game appeared in a new announcement trailer at The Game Awards in Los Angeles, California last year. Bandai Namco later confirmed that a brand-new Ace Combat game was in development as part of the series’ 30th anniversary celebrations, and the 2026 window has been the best guide since then.
The PEGI entry is also notable for what it says about the game itself. PEGI lists Violence and In-Game Purchases as the reasons for the PEGI 16 label, which is higher than the PEGI 12 ratings that have usually defined the mainline series. Ace Combat games have historically carried a lighter age badge, while Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown was already flagged for in-game purchases, so the new rating suggests the next game may be treated a little differently.
There is, however, one detail that does not sit neatly with the rest of the listing. PEGI’s own page shows a pre-release date of 30 May 2026 even though that date is already in the past and the game is still not available. The board’s page simply labels the field “Pre-Release Dates,” and it is not clear why the date was displayed that way or whether it reflects an update error, a placeholder or an internal scheduling change.
For now, the practical answer for fans is that the PEGI posting makes Ace Combat 8 feel closer to a formal reveal than it did a day ago, but not yet closer to a playable launch. The next likely moment for a real date is Summer Game Fest on 5 June, where a release announcement would fit the current rhythm of summer game showcases, but until Bandai Namco says more, the PEGI listing remains a hint rather than a confirmation.
