Tickets for Sunday’s Scottish Junior Cup Final between Auchinleck Talbot and Largs Thistle will now be sold on the day at Broadwood Stadium, with supporters able to buy them from 2pm at the reception front door. The change means fans heading to Cumbernauld for the 4.05pm kick-off on May 31 can no longer rely on an advance purchase plan that had initially been set out for the match.
The final, officially billed as the 3 Pillars Financial Planning Scottish Communities Cup, will bring both Ayrshire sides to Broadwood for a meeting that has drawn sharp interest because of what is at stake and who is involved. Talbot have won the trophy 14 times and most recently lifted it in 2022, while Thistle last claimed it at Ibrox Stadium in May 1994, when Pat McCurdy scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Glenafton FC.
Supporters will be able to pick up tickets for both sets of fans from the stadium on Sunday, with cash and card accepted. Prices are set at £12 for adults and £6 for OAPs and concessions, keeping the final accessible for the crowd expected to make the journey to Broadwood.
The switch to day-of-sale ticketing leaves one question hanging over the build-up: why the original advance-sale plan was changed. What is clear is that anyone heading to the final will need to buy on arrival, and the window is narrow, with sales opening at 2pm and the match following just over two hours later.
For Auchinleck Talbot, the occasion offers another chance to add to a long cup record. For Largs Thistle, it is a shot at ending a wait that stretches back more than three decades, with McCurdy’s winner still standing as the last time the club reached the summit of the competition.
