Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a burglary at a business in Corringham on May 25, when about £300 was taken from the till and a tip jar was stolen.
The incident was reported at about 11pm on Sunday, May 25, after a suspect forced entry to premises in Grover Walk. Officers are now asking the public to help identify the man seen in the footage, who was described as wearing a dark tracksuit, bright coloured gloves and a partial face covering, and was seen riding a black electric bicycle.
The release of the images turns a late-night break-in into a wider appeal. Police believe the burglary may be linked to other attempted burglaries in the area, and are urging anyone affected in recent days to come forward if they have not already spoken to officers. The business itself is left counting a relatively small cash loss, but the CCTV appeal suggests investigators are looking beyond one premises and toward a possible pattern.
That wider link has not been confirmed, and police have not said the man in the CCTV images is responsible for every reported attempt. For now, the question is whether someone who moved through Corringham on a black electric bicycle is the same person behind more than one break-in, or whether officers are dealing with separate incidents that only look connected.
Anyone with information is asked to quote investigation number 42/80796/26. The case now depends on a face in CCTV being matched to a name, and on anyone who saw a man in a dark tracksuit and bright gloves coming forward before the trail goes cold.
