Strong tensions broke out around 5 p.m. in Turin near the area between corso Sebastopoli and corso Agnelli, where police moved in to contain a group of Juventus supporters who were trying to get closer to Torino fans gathered in front of the Filadelfia stadium.
At the most critical moments, stones, bottles and firecrackers were thrown. The mobile police unit used tear gas to keep the two groups apart and bring the situation under control, dispersing the more violent supporters before the confrontation could escalate further.
The clash came just before the Torino - Juventus derby, a match that always carries heavy local emotion, and the choice of the Filadelfia stadium as a gathering point gave the episode added weight. For Torino fans, the venue is a symbolic place, which made the attempt by rival supporters to move closer all the more charged.
What stood out was not just the timing, but the speed with which a pre-match gathering turned into a street disorder scene. Police contained the worst of it for the moment, but the incident underlined how easily pressure around the derby can spill beyond the stadium and into the city streets.
