Fire crews were called to an industrial premises on Moss Lane near Lostock Gralam late on Wednesday night after a blaze broke out involving five HGV trailers. Emergency services stayed at the scene into the early hours of Thursday as crews worked through the night to bring the fire under control.
At least eight fire engines were sent to the incident, with crews from Crewe, Holmes Chapel, Knutsford, Lymm, Middlewich, Northwich, Powey Lane and Winsford all involved in the response. Some crews were on the scene between 9.15pm and 2.15am, using breathing apparatus and four jets to tackle the flames.
The scale of the response shows how quickly an industrial fire can draw in resources from across the county when trailers at a commercial site are involved. Police said there were no reports of any injuries at the time, easing concerns that the overnight blaze had spread beyond property damage.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said crews remained on scene throughout the night and continued to dampen down the fire with two hose reel jets. That work carried on after the main firefighting effort, a sign that the crews were still dealing with hot spots and making the site safe before handing back control.
The fire on Moss Lane near Lostock Gralam is the latest reminder of how disruptive an industrial blaze can be for emergency services and nearby businesses alike. With five HGV trailers involved and crews still damping down the site after midnight, the immediate question now is how much damage was left behind once the last engine pulled away.
