Nintendo has released Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream version 1.0.2, a bug-fix update aimed at some of the life simulator’s most disruptive early problems. The patch, released May 14, fixes save corruption errors, progression blockers, local-play issues and several unusually specific Mii behavior bugs that had been frustrating players since launch.
Latest Tomodachi Life Patch Focuses On Stability
The new Tomodachi Life update is not a content expansion. It does not add new buildings, relationship systems or major island activities. Instead, version 1.0.2 is a stability-focused patch designed to make the game safer to play and less likely to interrupt progress.
That matters because several of the fixes target problems that could stop players from advancing or prevent them from saving. In a game built around daily routines, Mii relationships and slow island development, save reliability is central to the experience.
The patch follows version 1.0.1, which arrived in April and addressed general gameplay issues. Version 1.0.2 is more detailed, with specific fixes for island building, house customization, Mii relationships and local item exchange.

The most important change concerns save data corruption messages. One issue caused the game to display a “your save data is corrupted” warning after a Mii successfully confessed and the player tried to save. Another could trigger a corruption message after multiple Miis began living together.
Those fixes are significant because relationship milestones are among the main rewards of Tomodachi Life. Confessions, couples, shared homes and family-style developments are part of the game’s long-term appeal. A bug that threatens saving after those events undermines the core loop.
The update is designed to prevent those false or progression-blocking corruption errors from appearing in the affected scenarios. Players who held back from advancing relationships because of save concerns now have a stronger reason to update before continuing.
Island Builder And Palette House Problems Addressed
Version 1.0.2 also fixes two progression blockers tied to customization. One issue could appear after players built up their island, leaving the game unable to progress. Another involved changing a house exterior made at the Palette House, which could also cause the game to stop moving forward.
These changes are especially relevant for players who spend time arranging their island and personalizing homes. Some of the most memorable patch notes involve Mii emotions. One fix addresses a situation where a Mii’s crush on another character could disappear after failing to patch things up with a different Mii following a fight.

A smaller but noticeable correction involves the treasure item “sugar glider.” The game had been using an image of a southern flying squirrel instead. Version 1.0.2 replaces it with the correct image, a minor detail but one that shows the patch is cleaning up presentation issues as well as technical problems.

Players can update from the Switch home menu by highlighting the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream icon, pressing the plus or minus button, selecting Software Update, and choosing the internet update option. The version number appears under the software title from the same menu.
The update is available for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 users playing the game. Installing the patch before continuing is strongly recommended, especially for players who are building out their island, changing homes, using local play or advancing Mii relationships.
