Anthony Starr has signed off from The Boys as the series moves toward its final episode, posting a farewell message to fans this week and marking what looks like the end of his run as Homelander. The episode, titled Blood and Bone, is scheduled to stream on Amazon Prime Video on May 20.
“Sending kisses to all the fans. End of the road this week. X,” Starr wrote, a message that landed as viewers were already bracing for the end of Season 5. For a show built on surprise turns and brutal reversals, his note felt like a curtain call from one of its central figures.
That matters because Homelander has been the force driving the series’ final stretch. Earlier episodes of Season 5 showed him growing more powerful and taking full control of major institutions, while Soldier Boy’s relationship with him broke down again. Starr’s farewell arrived just as fans were circulating theories about how the final episode might land, fueled in part by comments from creator Eric Kripke.
Kripke has only added to the speculation. He said, “Our notion was their (Gen V characters) story wasn’t just over just because Homelander is dead. There was a whole other interesting space they occupy as young adults in this world.” He also confirmed that Soldier Boy will not appear in the final episode, narrowing one of the biggest possibilities fans had been debating.
Kripke’s comments have also kept attention on a small detail from earlier storytelling. “Knowing that that (the Impala reference) was going to be Jensen’s last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference,” he said, a line that gave viewers another reason to read every scene as a clue. But there has been no official confirmation from Amazon Prime Video about how the main characters will end, leaving the audience to piece together the clues for itself.
For now, the closest thing to an answer is Starr’s own message. With Blood and Bone due on May 20, his goodbye suggests the series is not just nearing a finale, but closing the book on the version of The Boys that made Homelander its center of gravity. The ending may still be unknown, but the exit has already begun.
