Music composer Sajid Khan had a narrow escape on May 18 after a cricket ball nearly struck him during an IPL match, leaving him with minor scratches and swelling. He later posted a video in a Punjab Kings jersey and said the scare came while Punjab Kings were playing Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
In the clip, Khan said he was caught off guard when the ball came straight toward him as he tried to make a catch. He said his left foot got stuck in the chair as he stood up, which left him crooked with the ball directly in front of his face. He then jumped to avoid it. “Today, I faced a big problem,” he said, adding that the ball hit the rod above his seat, then the seat, and was torn in the process.
Khan said the impact was not serious. “It’s not a big injury,” he said, while also writing in his caption: “Bach gaye nawabsahab hahahaha yes it was dangerous but sixth sense… jst jump but I’m fine @iplt20 #punjabkings #friends #cricket #dangerous.” He also said, “Don’t think. Just jump,” and added that the move worked because, as he put it, “But then, you won’t believe, I really got saved.”
The episode landed in the middle of the IPL's usual flood of crowd reactions and close calls, but Khan's account made the moment feel more personal than playful. He said the ball could have caused a worse injury if it had hit his head or chest, but he walked away with only a little scratch and some swelling. The video was shared after the Punjab Kings match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, turning a routine match-day post into a brief reminder of how quickly a packed stadium can become risky for spectators.
Khan is part of the music duo Sajid-Wajid, which first scored music for Salman Khan's Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998 and later worked on Sonu Nigam's album Deewaana in 1999. Wajid died in 2020 of cardiac arrest at the age of 42, and Khan's brother had a history of underlying health issues before his death. For Khan, the incident appears to be over as quickly as it started: a scare, a scratch and a post saying he is fine.
