is carrying out overnight roadworks on the A3, M3, M23 and M25 across Surrey this week, with work set to run between 8pm and 6am. The programme includes multiple closures on busy routes as maintenance, resurfacing, drainage, road marking, lighting and technology work moves ahead.

Months of disruption began in Guildford on Monday May 11, when maintenance on the Dennis Roundabout got underway. That stretch is part of a wider set of overnight restrictions that will affect drivers on several major routes through the county, including the A3 eastbound between Esher and Hook, where there is a carriageway and entry slip road closure from 10pm to 5.30am for road marking.

On the A3 southbound between Hook and Esher, a carriageway closure is scheduled from 10pm to 5am for maintenance. The M3 southbound at Jct 3 in Bagshot will also see an entry slip road closure from 9pm to 6am for drainage work. On the M23 southbound at Jct 8 in Merstham, there is a carriageway closure between the exit and entry slip roads from 10pm to 5.30am for resurfacing.

Further west and north, the M25 is facing a series of overnight closures that will ripple across the network. The anti-clockwise carriageway between Jct 11 at Chertsey and Jct 10 at Wisley will be shut from 10pm to 5.30am for lighting and technology works. The anti-clockwise link road from Jct 7 at the M23 to the M23 northbound and southbound at Jct 8 will close in the same window for resurfacing, while the anti-clockwise link from Jct 10 at Wisley to A3 northbound Wisley will close for maintenance.

Clockwise traffic on the M25 is also affected, with a carriageway closure from Jct 10 at Wisley to Jct 11 at Chertsey between 10pm and 5.30am for routine maintenance, along with an entry slip road closure at Jct 10 during the same hours. The timing means much of the work will be finished before the morning commute begins, but drivers using these routes late at night will need to plan for diversions and delays.

These are just some of the roadworks taking place in Surrey this week, and they underline how heavily the county’s main routes are being used for overnight maintenance. For drivers, the message is simple: the closures are short in clock time, but they cluster across key junctions and will demand extra caution from anyone heading toward Guildford, Chertsey, Wisley, Bagshot, Merstham or the M23 link into the M25.
