Robert Bobroczkyi, the 7-foot-7 breakout creature performer from Alien: Romulus, is headed back into horror. The actor has joined Backrooms, A24’s sci-fi horror film from first-time feature director Kane Parsons, which is set to hit theaters on May 29, 2026.
Bobroczkyi’s casting places him alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett and Lukita Maxwell. Reinsve plays Mary Kline, while Ejiofor plays Clark. Bloody Disgusting confirmed the casting after spotting Bobroczkyi on the film’s official IMDb page, and fans are already guessing he may be playing The Lifeform.
The move continues a fast rise for Bobroczkyi, who erupted onto Hollywood’s radar in 2024 with Alien: Romulus. In that film, he played The Offspring, a terrifying xenomorph hybrid that became one of the movie’s most talked-about creations. Director Fede Álvarez leaned on practical puppetry instead of CGI, a choice that helped make the creature feel physical and immediate on screen.
Backrooms was built from Parsons’s online content after A24 greenlit the project, and the film draws on internet creepypasta and found-footage horror. Production moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in July and August 2025, with the budget coming in at $10 million. The film is being produced by A24 with 21 Laps Entertainment and Atomic Monster.
For Bobroczkyi, the new role is a sign that the industry has noticed what horror fans already did: his size and presence can turn a creature part into a headline. The unanswered question now is whether Backrooms will keep his character hidden until release, or lean into the speculation already building around The Lifeform.
