Dwayne Johnson walked onto the stage at Netflix’s "The Roast of Kevin Hart" on Sunday night and took direct aim at Draymond Green, turning the Warriors forward into one of the roast’s sharpest targets. Johnson joked that Green’s name was the laziest Black name he had ever heard because, as he put it, someone had just put a D in front of Raymond.
Johnson did not stop there. He told Green that the Warriors had already been bounced from the playoffs and said it was time to retire. Green, who was on stage with Pete Davidson, Jeff Ross and others during the event, did not appear fazed by the boos that came his way at the Kevin Hart roast.
The jabs landed at a moment when Green’s future has been an open question for months. Last month, he said he hoped he had done enough to still be with the Warriors and did not want the team to keep him around only because of what he had done before. He said leadership and helping bring younger players along were part of what he believed he had given the organization.
Golden State selected Green in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft out of Michigan State, and he has spent years building a résumé that includes four NBA titles and four All-Star selections. In the 2025-26 season, he averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 68 games.
That history explains why the roast drew attention beyond the jokes themselves. Green is no longer being measured only by what he already won.
