Marcos Senesi will leave Bournemouth when his contract expires in the summer, bringing an end to a four-year spell at Vitality Stadium. The Argentina defender has been free to speak to European clubs about a free transfer since 1 January and is also looking at the possibility of staying in England's top flight.
The 29-year-old joined Bournemouth from Feyenoord in 2022 and will depart as a free agent after the club did offer him a new contract. It remains unclear where he will go next, with Chelsea sources playing down any suggestion of a move while Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus have also been linked.
Senesi said he is proud of everything Bournemouth achieved over the last four years and added that he will look back on his time there with fond memories. He also said there are still two big games left this season and that he is looking forward to seeing what the team can achieve together.
Bournemouth are sixth in the Premier League and need two more points to set a record tally, with sixth place their highest possible finish in the competition. Andoni Iraola will also leave at the end of the season, while the club remain on course for European qualification and could still reach the Europa League, the Conference League or even the Champions League.
Senesi's departure comes after a season in which he made only his second and third appearances for Argentina, underlining how sharply his club and international careers have moved in different directions. For Bournemouth, the immediate focus is on those final two matches, because the points they collect now will decide whether a strong season becomes their best in the Premier League era.
