will suspend its Melbourne-Denpasar and Adelaide-Denpasar services, with the last flights on both routes scheduled for 18 June 2026. The move affects services operated by and marks a pullback from two of the airline’s Australia-Bali links.

The airline said the routes are no longer viable under current operating conditions. Captain said the decision was made in response to the sustained rise in global jet fuel prices driven by ongoing geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.

For passengers, the change matters now because the cutoff date is fixed and close. AirAsia said teams are contacting affected customers directly and will try to get guests to their destination through date changes or, where possible, via its Kuala Lumpur hub.

The suspension comes after a period in which fuel costs have remained a major pressure on airlines, and AirAsia’s explanation points to a direct link between those costs and its ability to keep the routes flying. The company did not describe the suspension as temporary and instead said the services are no longer viable as they stand.

That leaves travelers with plans already made for Bali facing a narrow window to adjust them before the final flights depart on 18 June. Abdurachman said AirAsia understands the move affects long-made travel plans and apologised for the inconvenience, thanking guests for their support and understanding.

The decision also shows how quickly route economics can change when fuel prices stay elevated and wider geopolitical tensions keep markets unsettled. For AirAsia, the immediate task is moving booked passengers onto new itineraries; for travelers, the practical question is whether their trip can be shifted, rerouted, or simply cancelled before the route shuts down.
