Jake Paul said he has $200 million for Canelo Álvarez and urged the Mexican champion to sign for what he called the biggest fight in boxing. In a video posted on social media, Paul said Álvarez told him by phone that he is willing to make the bout happen.
“I have the $200 million for you, easy money. Jake versus Canelo, let’s do it. This is what the fans have been waiting for. It is the biggest fight that can be made in boxing,” Paul said in the video, according to the source. He added: “Canelo told me by phone that he is willing. Let’s make it happen. I have the $200 million. I think it will be the next fight. Sign the contract, Canelo. Much respect to you. Let’s make the biggest fight in boxing.”
The callout landed after a rough outing for Paul in his most recent boxing appearance, when he lost to Antony Josua and finished the fight with a fractured jaw that required surgery. Paul, who has fought 12 times, is trying to turn a celebrity-heavy career into a meeting with one of the sport’s most established names, but the ask is far bigger than the usual call for a crossover event.
Álvarez is 35 years old and already has other commitments that make Paul’s proposal difficult to square with the current calendar. The source says he has a contract with Turki Alalshikh for two fights in Saudi Arabia and is committed to face Christian Mbilli on September 12 in Riyadh for the world super middleweight title.
That schedule leaves little room for a sudden shift toward Paul, even if the social media pitch is real and even if Álvarez did say he was open on the phone. For now, Paul has framed the fight as a done deal waiting on a signature, while Álvarez remains tied to a title defense in Riyadh that already sits on the books.
