Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah shared photographs with journalist Nidhi Razdan on social media on Saturday, and both were seen dressed in wedding attire. He wrote that a new journey began yesterday, tagged Razdan and added a ring emoji.

Razdan posted the same photographs and replied, “It's done bro,” with a ring emoji of her own. The paired posts immediately drew attention because they read like a personal announcement, even though neither post made clear where or when the ceremony or marriage took place.

That uncertainty has not stopped the posts from becoming the focus of public discussion. Razdan has been seen attending public events with Abdullah lately, and the new images place the two at the center of a personal moment that he chose to make public on a day when such a signal was bound to be noticed.

The posts also landed against the background of Abdullah’s long marital history. He married Payal Nath in 1994, and the two started living separately in 2009. They have two sons, Zahir and Zamir, and the legal battle over their marriage continued for years before the Supreme Court granted them a divorce in July this year.

That settlement came after Abdullah challenged the December 12, 2023 judgment of the Delhi high court, which upheld an earlier order of a Delhi court in August 2016. The high court had found his allegations of cruelty vague, accepted Nath’s position that she did not settle in Kashmir because of security concerns and the children’s education, and left in place monthly interim maintenance of ₹1.5 lakh, along with ₹60,000 each for the two sons’ education. It later refused Nath’s separate request in August 2023 to raise that support.

What the photographs do not settle is the basic question they raise. They show a milestone, but not the place or date of it, and that gap is now part of the story. Until there is a clearer statement, the social media posts stand as the public signal of a new chapter — and as the only confirmation offered so far.
