The NFL Player's Association named Colts wide receiver Laquon Treadwell its Week 7 Community MVP on Friday, recognizing a week that tied football to a Breast Cancer Awareness Month event and a donation to his foundation.
Treadwell partnered with Indiana Women In Need on Tuesday to host a High Tea at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center, where breast cancer survivors and their daughters took part in the luncheon. They made jewelry and gift bags, turning the afternoon into more than a meet-and-greet and giving the honor a clear community purpose.
That recognition also carried a personal note. Treadwell and his Lead the Way foundation honored 14-year-old Kayla as this season's third Laquon's Leaders in Training honoree, and she received two tickets to a Colts game. The NFLPA will donate $10,000 to the Lead the Way Foundation as part of the award, putting a concrete number behind a title that depends on service rather than stats.
The award fits the NFLPA's community program, but it leaves one thing unstated: what exact measure of outreach pushed Treadwell over the line. The announcement points to the High Tea, the luncheon activities and Kayla's recognition, yet it does not spell out how the selection was made or how much of Treadwell's work sits beyond this one event.
Even so, Friday's honor makes the next step clear. The foundation will get the donation, Kayla will keep the memory of the afternoon and Treadwell has now been linked to one of the week's most visible off-field recognitions.
