The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 is now getting Android 17, but only one handset appears to have received it so far. A Reddit user spotted the update on their phone and shared the news, while most other users said they were still waiting.
That makes the timing worth watching today, because Android 17 first began landing on phones in June 2026 and Motorola has been moving behind some rivals. Pixel phones got the software first, Samsung started updating a couple of months later, and Motorola did not begin seeing broader action until September, when Razr, Edge and Signature devices started to pick up the update.
The handset at the center of the report is a Razr Ultra 2025, an unlocked ATT model being used on US Mobile. After installing the update, the user said TikTok appeared on the phone and Moto AI, which had been deactivated, was switched back on. That detail gives the rollout a real-world edge that a simple changelog would not: the software is not only changing the version number, it is also changing what is enabled on the device.
Motorola published a list in August that included 50 phones set to get Android 17, so the Razr Ultra 2025 was always going to be part of the wave. Even so, the fact that only one confirmed device has shown the update suggests this is not yet a wide release. The phone is one of Motorola's ultra-premium foldables, but its software path still looks cautious and staged rather than immediate.
That caution matters because the Razr Ultra 2025 is expected to get three major updates over its lifetime, with Android 18 set to be the last one next year. It will also get bi-monthly security updates for four years total, keeping it current until 2028. For now, though, the important question is not how long support lasts but how quickly the rest of the phones in line get the same upgrade after this first sighting.
