Season 3 of Nobody Wants This is now streaming, and the biggest turn comes when Sasha and Morgan sleep together in New York City after what had been a boundary-pushing friendship from the moment they met. What once played like a close, respectful bond has become the season’s most complicated relationship shift, with emotional chaos following fast behind.
That is why the Nobody Wants This cast is talking about it now. Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons and Jackie Tohn discussed their characters in a Netflix Hollywood office greenroom, and the three did not fully agree on what to call the dynamic. Tohn called it a messy love triangle. Simons pushed back and said it was more of a situation than a love triangle, adding that these are not 23-year-olds making careless choices. Lupe said she had a mixed bag about it, though she also said she always felt chemistry between Sasha and Morgan.
The show itself still centers on Joanne and Noah, played by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, but the Morgan, Sasha and Esther thread has become its own engine. That relationship started with Morgan and Sasha’s boundary-pushing friendship, then changed again after Esther decided to separate from Sasha during his 15-year marriage. After that, Sasha moved out temporarily and stayed with Morgan and her parents, which made the later New York City trip feel less like a random detour and more like the next step in a bond already stretched past its old limits.
What makes the storyline harder to flatten is that everyone involved keeps insisting there were no real transgressions. Lupe said that if this had happened in Season 1 or Season 2, it would have looked like a toxic messy love triangle, but after the relationship decisions had already been made, it becomes more of a situation because no one is doing anything they should not be doing. Tohn put it more bluntly: Esther wanted Sasha to figure things out too, and there really are no transgressions. That is the awkward part. The relationship is framed as respectful, even non-transgressive, and still it lands as emotionally tricky in a way the show never lets off the hook.
So the next question is not whether Sasha and Morgan crossed a line. It is what they do after crossing into one another’s lives this deeply. Season 3 has already put the characters in motion, and the fallout from New York City is what will decide whether this stays a complication or turns into something permanent.
