The LEGO Group announced a new partnership with Daft Punk on Thursday morning, Oct. 22, and opened it with a short film built around minifigures of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The first project is rooted in a fan-made LEGO recreation of the duo’s pyramid-shaped stage from their 2007 Alive tour, turning a community idea into an official collaboration.

That is why the search interest lands now. Fans of Daft Punk and LEGO are not being teased with a vague anniversary nod; they are being shown the shape of the project itself, with the teaser set to Voyager from Discovery and the title track from Human After All. Julia Goldin, the LEGO Group’s chief product and marketing officer, said the partnership is meant to reimagine the Daft Punk legacy in a fresh and unexpected way and to inspire and remix fandoms through product, content and brand experiences.

The project did not begin in a boardroom. It grew from the LEGO Ideas community, where the LEGO Ideas Music to Our Ears challenge produced the original concept that won the Grand Prize in 2020. Patrick Harboun said the build began as a creative escape during lockdown with his son, driven by their shared love of Daft Punk and LEGO building. His submission centered on the pyramid stage from the Alive tour, and that was the version that carried the idea forward.

That fan origin matters because it gives the partnership its shape and its limit. Cédric Hervet said the pyramid stage is one of the most recognizable expressions of Daft Punk’s visual world, which explains why it was chosen as the centerpiece. But the company is holding back the rest: more details about the collaboration will not come until 2027. For now, the announcement confirms the direction. The next phase is still waiting offstage.
