Thalía has made a large blanket by hand for Yolanda Andrade and said she will send it to Mexico so her friend can receive it at home. The singer said the gift took several hours to finish and was made with 16 skeins of thick yarn.
The timing matters because Andrade recently said on her social networks that she would stop taking most of her medications and keep only those she needs for pain. She has esclerosis múltiple, and the blanket lands as a personal gesture of support at a moment when she is trying to move away from much of the treatment she has been using.
Thalía said the blanket is the third one she has made with her own hands. The first was for her daughter, Sabrina Sakaë, and the second was for herself. This one, she said, was for her friend Andrade after she asked for a gray blanket, which meant finding yarn that was both gray and soft.
That detail gives the gift its weight. Thalía did not just make something warm; she made something specific, choosing the color Andrade wanted and describing the blanket as made with so much love and affection. The gesture also fits a friendship that has lasted for years, and it arrives as Andrade has been receiving visits, video calls and social-media tributes from other friends and celebrities.
Still, the larger question is not the blanket itself. Andrade has said she wants to step away from most of her medication even as she lives with esclerosis múltiple, and she has not explained how she plans to manage that shift beyond the pain medicine she says she will continue taking. Thalía’s gift is on its way, but the path Andrade chooses next is still hers alone.
