Ezra Frech shared a rehearsal clip on Wednesday showing him fall while preparing for his Dedication Night contemporary routine on Dancing With the Stars. The video catches him mid-turn before he drops to the ground, then shows the moment again in slow motion, with Frech captioning it, “Life with one leg lol.”
The clip landed after Frech and Daniella Karagach had already turned the routine into one of the night’s biggest results. On Tuesday, they performed to “Bloodline” by Mon Rovîa and earned the first 10 of season 35, finishing with 37 out of 40 after three judges gave it a 9 and Kym Johnson gave it a 10. Frech and Karagach tied for second with Jenna Dewan and Alan Bersten, while Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov finished ahead of them with a 38 out of 40.
What makes the fall more striking is what came before it. Frech had worried that his prosthetic might make certain lifts harder, yet the routine ended up using it as part of the choreography. He and Karagach developed a move called the “blade stand,” and during the dance Karagach stepped up onto his prosthetic leg. After the performance, Frech said it was “really cool” to work his prosthetic into the art and the lift, adding that the move may not have been done before.
Frech, a track and field athlete and Paralympian, was born without most of his left leg and several fingers on his left hand. That makes the rehearsal spill feel less like a throwaway behind-the-scenes clip than a reminder of how physical the routine was, even before the music and the judges’ score turned it into a milestone. The fall does not change the outcome. It sharpens it.
