Christian McCaffrey says his sleep is doing just fine after Olivia Culpo gave birth to the couple’s second child, and he made that clear while being asked about his routine ahead of the game against the Washington Commanders. On Thursday, Oct. 16, he said his family was down in L.A. while his wife was recovering, then added with a laugh: “Don’t tell her this, I’m sleeping fantastic.”

The timing matters because the update came just days after the couple announced the arrival of their son, Roman Augustus McCaffrey, in a joint Instagram post on Saturday, Oct. 10. Culpo captioned the post “Roman Augustus McCaffrey 🤍,” and the photos showed her in the hospital with McCaffrey at her side, while their 14-month-old daughter Colette looked on. Another image showed Culpo standing in a garden holding Roman, with Colette beside her.

The birth was first celebrated publicly on Sept. 29, when the couple welcomed baby number 2, but the social media announcement came later, after Culpo had time to recover enough to share the news herself. That gap is part of what makes McCaffrey’s remarks useful: they offer a small, real-time view of family life while Culpo is still healing and the household is being managed from a distance.

There is one thing McCaffrey did not pin down: when Culpo will return to the San Francisco area. He said she is recovering, and he said the family is in L.A. for now, but he did not give a date for that move. For the moment, the clearest update is simple enough — Roman is home, Colette now has a baby brother, and McCaffrey is heading into the week with at least one thing going smoothly.

The couple, who wed in 2024, have kept some of the pregnancy journey in view on social media, including a May post that announced their second pregnancy with the caption “Best birthday gift ❤️ Baby #2 coming soon 🥹”.
