Brad Winderbaum says Daredevil: Born Again was always meant to end with Season 3, a statement that narrows the future of the Marvel series after months of mixed signals about how long it would run. The Marvel Television boss said the show and the earlier Netflix Daredevil series were built as two three-season sets, with Marvel planning to pause after that and decide what comes next for the character.
That is why Charlie Cox is being searched now. At New York Comic-Con, Cox said there was a bit more planning and emotional support this time, and he also told fans he does not know whether he is done as Daredevil. He urged the Save Daredevil campaign to get moving again, a reminder that the question of what happens after Season 3 is still alive even if Marvel is now drawing a neat line under the plan.
The detail that makes the new comments land is the contrast with what Winderbaum said earlier. In 2025, he said the series was meant to be annualized, with a new season dropping every March, and ahead of Season 1 he talked about Season 2, then Season 3 and even Season Infinity after that. Now he says the plan was always to culminate at Season 3, and he described the original Netflix series and Born Again as two shelf-ready three-volume collections.
That leaves one awkward fact hanging over the cleanest version of the story: the cast and writers were surprised when the original Netflix series was unexpectedly and unceremoniously canceled. Winderbaum now says that after Season 3 Marvel will take a breath and figure out what is next, which suggests the endpoint was fixed even if the language around the show’s lifespan was not. For Cox, that means the answer is still unresolved, and for fans it means Daredevil may not be finished, but it is no longer being treated as if it will simply keep going forever.
If Marvel follows through on that plan, the real story is no longer whether Born Again ends at Season 3. It is whether the company is holding back a larger Daredevil future until it has a clearer idea of what the character should become next.
