NBC will premiere Newlyweds on Friday, October 23 at 8:30 p.m. ET, putting Téa Leoni and Tim Daly at the center of a new Friday night comedy built around a marriage that began off-screen. The series will air in that same slot each Friday and stream the next day on Peacock.

The timing matters because the search for Newlyweds TV show is really a search for when viewers can see Leoni and Daly back together. The two stars play Jeanie and James, a couple who get hitched soon after a meet-cute in the series, even though they are already married in real life. They tied the knot in July 2025, and that casting choice gives the comedy its hook before a single scene airs.

Leoni said she and Daly wanted to make something lighter after enjoying their work together on Madam Secretary. She also said they wanted to spend their days together, a simple line that fits the idea behind the show as much as the plot does. Gail Lerner created Newlyweds, and NBC is using the launch to give the network a fresh comedy slot on Friday evenings.

The rest of the cast gives the series a family shape around the title couple. Emma Meisel plays Jeanie's daughter, Poppy, and Ignacio Diaz-Silverio plays her adopted son, Lolo. Bill O’Neill appears as Arvid, James' assistant in the philosophy department at the University of Oslo, while Jamie Lee Curtis will recur in a guest role.

There is a small built-in mismatch at the center of the premise. On screen, Jeanie and James are moving fast into marriage after a brief romance; off screen, Leoni and Daly are bringing years of real partnership to the roles. That contrast is likely to be part of why the series stands out before it has even reached viewers.

NBC has also said there are opportunities to attend a live taping in Universal City, California, through November, although the network has not detailed how many episodes the first season will run or how those requests are being allocated. What is clear is the launch plan: the show starts on October 23, stays in the Friday night lineup, and lands on Peacock the next day for anyone who misses it live.
