Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have been photographed together for the first time on the set of The Mummy 4, filming a scene in London on Tuesday. It is the reunion fans of the franchise have waited years to see: Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan back in the same frame.
The sighting matters because the pair last shared the screen in The Mummy Returns 25 years ago, after first playing their roles in The Mummy in 1999. Fraser’s Rick and Weisz’s Evelyn were written as a married couple with a child by the second film, which made their return to the same series feel less like a cameo and more like the restoration of the film’s original center of gravity.
That return carries extra weight for Weisz. She did not take part in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008, when Maria Bello played her role instead. At the time, Weisz said she had been replaced because of a scheduling conflict, explaining that the film would have required five months in China when she was already committed to another project.
Now that gap has closed. Fraser starred in the 2008 sequel without her, but news later emerged in November 2025 that both stars were in talks to come back for The Mummy 4. Their participation was confirmed three months later, and the first separate on-set looks followed in September before Tuesday’s joint sighting in London. The franchise has also brought back Oded Fehr, John Hannah and Kevin J. O’Connor, with Michael Johnston and Numan Acar joining the cast under Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
The unanswered question is no longer whether Fraser and Weisz will return; they already have. What remains is how The Mummy 4 will fit the original characters back into the story after so many years away, and whether the film can make that reunion feel as inevitable on screen as it does in the photographs.
