Preview pages for Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9 show the kind of disaster that follows Deadpool when he gets near a weapon built to rewrite history. Punisher has a time gun, Deadpool knocks it loose, and the blast sends a blue portal roughly 10,000 years into the past.

The device matters because it is not some gimmick with one shot left in it. The gun was loaded with 10 uniquely crafted bullets, and after the latest blast there are nine bullets remaining. In the preview, that shot blows a saber-toothed tiger’s head clean off, which is why Cy Pedro Beltran says Deadpool is responsible for the extinction of the saber-toothed tiger.

That is the kind of absurd, lethal twist Benjamin Percy has built into both of his February 2026 books, Wade Wilson: Deadpool and The Punisher, which are running through Marvel Comics’ Big Guns crossover event from opposite directions. Punisher ended The Punisher #8 with the time gun after using a Level 5 S.H.I.E.L.D. security clearance card to reach a decommissioned S.H.I.E.L.D. vault, where Deadpool and Blind Al had been hired to break in and steal it. The weapon can literally alter the past, and Percy is pairing that power with two men who have every reason to use it for revenge.

That is where the problem starts. Punisher wants to use the gun to kill the people who killed his family, but the preview shows how easily Deadpool can throw the outcome off course. Deadpool hurls a katana, impales Punisher’s hand, and sends the gun to the floor, where it fires on its own. A tool meant to be aimed becomes a hazard the moment control slips, and that makes the next user more important than the weapon itself.

Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9 is scheduled for October 14, 2026, and the solicitation is already trying to steer the weapon toward another marksman. It says Punisher and Deadpool are hunting the same weapon as Black Hole and asks what good a gun is without the greatest marksman of all time to aim it, before answering with the line, “Sounds like a job for BULLSEYE!” If that setup holds, the real question is not whether the gun can change history. It is who gets to pull the trigger before Deadpool changes it again.
