Dak Prescott kept it short after the Dallas Cowboys beat the Houston Texans 34-30 on Sunday, telling C.J. Stroud to “just shake it off” and to “go get some wins, bro. Go get some wins going, brother.”
The exchange mattered because it came right after a one-score game and quickly spread this week, turning a routine postgame moment into something people kept replaying. Prescott and Stroud shared only a brief conversation, but the words were clear enough to spark debate over whether it was simple encouragement or something with a sharper edge.
For Stroud, the timing was harder to ignore. He and the Texans fell to 0-4, and three of Houston’s four losses have come by five points or less. That kind of start leaves little room for comfort, especially when the next week offers no reprieve.
The conversation also carried a familiar note for those who follow both quarterbacks. It recalled a moment when Stroud once tried to advise Caleb Williams after a game two years ago, a reminder that these exchanges can sound casual on the surface while landing differently once they spread beyond the field.
What Prescott meant, in plain terms, was encouragement delivered in the language of a rival. He was not laying out a strategy or handing down a critique so much as telling Stroud to reset, move on and start stacking wins. In a league where every word gets replayed, that was enough.
Now Stroud and the Texans have to turn that advice into something practical in Week 5, when they face the Tennessee Titans, who were also 0-4. The viral clip is already part of the week’s story; the next one will be whether Houston can answer it on the field.
