Southwest Airlines Co. on Oct. 5, 2026, launched a new brand campaign, Enter Airplane Mode, and paired it with a customer activation called Notification Vacation that hands Rapid Rewards points to people willing to turn their scrolling habits into a vacation prompt. The move ties a burnout message to a promotion built around screenshots, quizzes and points.

The timing matters because Southwest is not just selling a slogan; it is rolling out the campaign the same day it begins airing, giving travelers a reason to notice it now rather than later. The airline said its sponsored survey found 76% of respondents were experiencing burnout, while 68% said a trip is one way they can regain control of their time.

That is the pitch behind Southwest Vacation Notification: take the moment when your phone feels like too much, capture the clutter, and use it as the starting point for a getaway. Customers can upload a screenshot of their homepage notifications and receive Rapid Rewards points, or take the Burnout Quiz to gauge how drained they feel and look for ideas for a relaxing trip. Southwest said Notification Vacation and the Burnout Quiz together offer more than 185 million Rapid Rewards points, with limits applying per Rapid Rewards Member.

The campaign leans into a contradiction that fits the modern travel business. Southwest is asking people to disconnect from constant pings while using a notification-driven promotion to pull them into its orbit. Sabrina Callahan said the airline wanted to help people recognize when they are approaching a breaking point and turn that moment into their booking point, then go one step further by helping bring the trip to fruition.

Southwest framed the effort as part of a broader push that matches its flexible policies and domestic network with a simple emotional hook: travel as relief. The campaign spots were shot by Will Speck and Josh Gordon and voiced by Adam Scott, whose recent role in a workplace-centered series gives the message a small, familiar wink. The work was created with GSD&M, with support from Later and Spark Foundry, and it comes from an airline that says it has flown since 1971 and now serves 120 airports across 12 countries.

What customers get from Southwest Vacation Notification is straightforward enough: a path from burnout to booking, backed by points and an online quiz. What Southwest does not spell out is the value of each screenshot upload, leaving the size of the reward open even as the promotion invites people to act right away.
