Small Prophets is heading to Apple TV on October 7, giving the six-episode comedy a second life after it premiered on the earlier this year. For viewers who missed it the first time, the Apple TV Small Prophets comedy show will be the first easy chance to catch a series that mixes domestic misery, magic and a search that never quite lets up.

At the center is Michael Sleep, played by Pearce Quigley, a man who has spent seven years living like something of a hermit since Clea disappeared. He works a job he hates at a hardware store, helps look after his elderly father, Michael Palin, and still lives in a house packed with old boxes of Clea’s things. That is the life Apple TV is now adding to its lineup: not a broad feel-good escape, but a strange and intimate story about what happens when grief settles in and refuses to move out.

The reason the show keeps pulling Michael forward is a secret alchemical recipe his father gives him, one that is meant to grow tiny magical beings that can answer any question. Michael decides to try it because he wants to know whether he will ever see Clea again, and he teams up with his coworker Kacey, played by Lauren Patel, to raise the homunculi. What begins as a desperate experiment becomes its own problem, because the creatures are growing in both size and power just as Clea’s broke brother Roy, played by Paul Kaye, tries to claim the house so he can sell it and clear his debt.

That mix gives Small Prophets its charge. The show is described as smart, silly, sweet and occasionally stressful, and Michael fits that blend too: he is lonely and sincere, but also aloof, socially difficult and capable of being an asshole to people he does not like. The result is a comedy that does not smooth over its edges. It lets the supernatural premise carry real emotional weight, then complicates it with a man who may not always be easy to root for.

Apple TV has broadened its series lineup in 2026 with titles including OnlyFans dramedies, the horror-comedy hybrid Widow’s Bay, and returns of Ted Lasso and Silo, and Small Prophets now joins that push. On October 7, the question is not whether the show is new, but whether its mix of charm, grief and strange little creatures will make Michael’s search for Clea feel as urgent on streaming as it did on the. The answer arrives with the debut itself.
