Dunkin’ and L.L.Bean have launched their first collaboration, rolling out limited-edition apparel, giveaways and free coffee offers during the first week of fall. The promotion begins Tuesday, Sept. 22, with a cup sleeve that turns an everyday coffee order into a small piece of the campaign.
That sleeve is available at participating Dunkin’ locations nationwide with any hot or iced coffee order, while supplies last. For Jill Nelson, the pairing makes sense because the two brands have long shown up in the same routines, from morning coffee runs to weekends outside, and she said bringing them together felt right.
The timing is the reason people are looking now. The launch ties the brands to fall and to National Coffee Day, with the main merchandise drop set for Tuesday, Sept. 29, and the coffee offer for Dunkin’ Rewards members also landing that day. The collection goes on sale at 10 a.m. on L.L.Bean’s website, and the free medium hot or iced coffee is available through the Dunkin’ app with any purchase at participating locations, excluding cold brew and hot espresso drinks.
The brands are making the collaboration feel bigger than a simple product release. On Sunday, the L.L.Bean store in Boston’s Seaport District will host a short event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with photos in front of a doughnut wall and complimentary Dunkin’ coffee, Refreshers, doughnuts and Munchkins while supplies last. Guests there also get an early chance to shop the new merchandise before the nationwide launch.
That split is the catch in the story: the free coffee promotion is limited to Dunkin’ Rewards members, while the cup sleeve giveaway, the Boston event and the merchandise sale each follow their own rules and timing. The limited-edition Birdseye sweater costs $79.95, the Boat and Tote is $59.95, and a L.L.Bean Coffee Tote priced at $24.95 will be sold through Dunkin’s merchandise website and at select Dunkin’ locations in Maine while supplies last.
The collaboration’s last stop is a traveling Bootmobile wrapped in a design inspired by the Birdseye sweater. The Dunkin’ x L.L.Bean Bootmobile Tour runs through Sept. 29, moving from Maine to Boston and stopping at select Dunkin’ restaurants, where visitors can take photos and have a chance to receive Dunkin’ gift cards. The next confirmed marker is clear: Sept. 29 will bring the full merchandise launch and the National Coffee Day coffee offer, while the remaining question is how quickly the limited items disappear once they are live.
