Mamardashvili, Gomez, Tsimikas, Munoz, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Nyoni, Koumas and Ngumoha were among the nine substitutes, leaving Liverpool with options if the match demanded another adjustment. For Gakpo, the return mattered because he was one of the three players chosen to reset Liverpool’s Premier League line-up after the Fulham draw.
The immediate question now is not whether Liverpool changed, but whether those changes were enough to sharpen them at Vitality Stadium. The club’s team sheet was the answer for today; the performance will decide whether the reshuffle was a simple rotation or the start of something more settled.
