Herbstreit said the North Carolina-Clemson result could influence something in the near future, and that possibility is what has pushed College GameDay in Chapel Hill into the conversation now.
That is also why the search has sharpened around what happens in Week 4. North Carolina opens conference play against Clemson, and the game matters for more than the standings. Herbstreit framed it as a matchup that could help shape where the pregame show goes next, with North Carolina in Week 5 suddenly carrying broadcast implications if the Tar Heels handle Clemson.
But Herbstreit also drew a line around the idea. He said that as much of a spectacle as it would be to see College GameDay in Chapel Hill, it should not be the primetime event if North Carolina wins this weekend.
