Big Brother turned a two-hour Sept. 17 episode into a fast exit for Barrett Pfeiffer, who was voted out 3-1 in a double eviction that cut the field from the Top 7 to the Top 5 in one night. The live swing came after Yash Patel’s early nominations, Drew Campbell’s long-shot veto win and Melody Morris’s last-minute Block Buster run all shifted the board before the vote.
The reason viewers were watching for the Big Brother double eviction was simple: the game can reset in a matter of minutes, and this one did. Patel had been bound by Dee Valladares’ bribe to keep Dee and Rick Devens safe from the block, so he first put up Barrett, Drew and Melody. Drew then won the 13-hour Pressure Cooker Veto, pulled himself off, and forced Patel to name Taylor Brown as the replacement nominee.
That left Melody, Barrett and Taylor in the final Block Buster, a competition built around moving five balls from one end of a curved track to the other. Melody won it, which should have protected her, but the episode still found a way to unsettle her: her picture was briefly greyed out on the Memory Wall even after she had earned safety. She reacted with, “What the hell?!”
