Saturday’s James Madison versus Wagner football game has been moved up to noon because of expected inclement weather in the Harrisonburg area. Fans heading to Bridgeforth Stadium will also need to arrive earlier, with all parking lots and the ticket office opening at 8 a.m. and gates opening at 10:30 a.m.
The change matters now because the weather threat is tied to Saturday afternoon, the same window that would have covered the original kickoff. James Madison University Athletics said it had extensive conversations with meteorologists about the risk of heavy rain and lightning and believed moving the game was the best way to protect safety and give the matchup the best chance to be completed.
For fans, the new schedule changes the shape of the day. Parking lot access begins four hours before kickoff, the ticket office opens 2.5 hours before kickoff, and stadium gates open 90 minutes before the noon start. That gives attendees a narrower arrival window than the original timing and makes the early morning the main point of movement around the stadium.
There is one catch that will frustrate some ticket holders: refunds will not be offered even though the kickoff time changed because of weather. That leaves fans to decide whether to adjust their plans for the earlier start, stay home and watch on +, or absorb the schedule shift without any reimbursement.
