Yousri Belgaroui will take his next UFC step against Djorden Santos at Noche UFC in Glendale, Arizona, with the 34-year-old middleweight looking to extend a start that has already produced two wins and two finishes. For Belgaroui, the bout is not just another date on the calendar; it is the next chance to show that his quick rise in the UFC is real.
The reason his name is drawing attention now is simple: he has not wasted his first two appearances. Belgaroui stopped Azamat Bekoev in Vancouver last October and followed with a win over Mansur Abdul-Malik in Seattle earlier this year, handing Abdul-Malik the first loss of his career. A highlight reel of that March win used audio from the Joe Rogan Experience, and Belgaroui said the praise was motivating as he prepared for Santos in Glendale.
He said hearing Rogan speak about him carried weight because Rogan is a major fight fan with years around martial arts, and because praise from someone that plugged into the sport feels different when it comes after years of watching other fighters get the same treatment. Belgaroui said it pushed him to keep performing in the Octagon, where he has already shown he can finish high-level opposition.
That climb has come after a hard turn earlier in his career. Belgaroui earned a third-round finish on Season 8 of Dana White’s Contender Series but did not receive a UFC contract, becoming the lone winner from that episode who did not make the roster. He went back to the gym after that setback and said negative moments tend to give him more fuel, adding that each one pushes him to train harder and put more into the work.
There is still a test inside the test. Belgaroui has quickly become a dangerous 185-pound matchup because of his striking and size, but Santos offers the next chance to see whether the same style can keep carrying him forward against another opponent on a bigger stage. Belgaroui said performing against top opponents under the big lights validates the work, and that confidence will be part of what he brings into Noche UFC in Glendale.
