But Fasusi’s absence cuts the other way. His shoulder injury limited him to 17 snaps against UTEP, and he is now considered week-to-week, which means Oklahoma is not just changing positions but losing one of the linemen it had counted on for the matchup. He played in the season opener last week, and he also graded out at 74.6 on PFF against the Wolverines last season, a reminder of how much the Sooners are giving up while they try to patch the line around him.
That is the friction in Oklahoma’s setup: the Sooners get back a center and a left tackle, but they lose Fasusi, and the result is a line that should look stronger in some spots and less stable in others. The adjustment may hold up fine on paper, yet it still has to survive live snaps against Michigan, which is where the real answer will come.
