The Seahawks have a new ownership group, but it says the franchise will look a lot like the old one. After paying $9.6 billion for the Seattle Seahawks, the Khosla family said Wednesday at Lumen Field that it does not intend to make major changes to the organization, with one visible exception: the return of white throwback uniforms in 2027.
That was the first concrete sign of what the Seahawks Owner plans to do, and it came from Neal Khosla, who said the team’s white throwback uniforms will be back in 2027. The announcement gave fans something specific to mark on the calendar even as the family framed its broader approach as caution and continuity.
Vinod Khosla, Neeru Khosla and Neal Khosla made their first public appearance as owners on Wednesday at Lumen Field, where the conversation quickly moved beyond uniforms. Vinod Khosla said the family inherited a successful operation and does not intend to arrive with a mandate to remake the football side of the organization. He said the best thing it can do is not mess with a lot, then added that the family would talk through ideas and leave it to management to decide.
He also said the new owners would rely heavily on management recommendations and expected their philosophy to look similar to that of Paul Allen and Jody Allen. That matters because the Seahawks are coming off a Super Bowl championship, and the easiest way to upset a winning setup is to assume ownership alone can improve it. The family is signaling the opposite: keep the structure, learn the details and resist the urge to fix what is already working.
Still, the new ownership shift is not meaningless. Vinod Khosla called himself and Neal an informal office of the chairman, a phrase that suggests hands-on coordination at the top without a formal overhaul of football operations. Neeru Khosla said she will focus on the Seahawks Foundation and community efforts, giving the group a defined split in responsibilities while it decides how involved it wants to be elsewhere.
That softer approach does not erase the bigger questions that come with new owners. The family said it is open-minded and creative about AI’s possible role across the organization, and it wants to understand current operations before suggesting technology changes. It also said it has no plans to move to Seattle, even as the team’s lease at taxpayer-financed Lumen Field runs through 2032.
Vinod Khosla said the new owners have held the franchise for only five days and have not yet developed specific plans for the building or the surrounding area. He said, broadening the point, that he does not expect too many changes. For now, the clearest change is cosmetic and already dated: the Seahawks’ white throwback uniforms are coming back in 2027, while the larger decisions about the team, the building and what ownership means will have to wait.
