The WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event opened on Sept. 3, 2026 at Playground in Kahnawake, Quebec, putting a CA$10 million guarantee at the center of Canada’s first WSOP Super Circuit. Sebastien Proulx had already given the festival its first major local talking point by winning the CA$500 NLH Super Circuit Kickoff for CA$56,000, but the marquee event is now the card that could decide how far the series goes.
The reason players are watching this tournament now is simple: the festival is still in motion, and the numbers are already heavy. By Sept. 3, the opening events had produced approximately CA$5.78 million in prize pools, leaving the series about CA$9.76 million short of the current Canadian record of CA$15.54 million in total prize money generated by a poker series. The Main Event, with its CA$10 million guarantee, is the obvious engine for that push.
That guarantee sits inside a schedule built to make a statement. The WSOP Super Circuit Canada includes 18 WSOP Circuit ring events and more than CA$14 million in advertised guarantees, and six players had already secured WSOP Circuit rings and WSOP Paradise 2026 tickets by the same date. Every ring winner at Playground also receives a $5,000 WSOP Circuit Paradise Package, which includes entry to the $2,750 WSOP Paradise Circuit Championship Mystery Bounty and hotel accommodations at Baha Mar.
The early turnout has already shown why the series is being treated as a test case for the market. The CA$500 No-Limit Hold'em Mini Main Event drew 3,484 total entries across five starting flights, the largest field for a single tournament in Playground’s history and roughly 76 percent bigger than the previous record of 1,978 entries set in the 2025 WSOP Circuit Main Event. That kind of crowd does not guarantee the Main Event reaches the record on its own, but it explains why the festival has become the kind of place where every fresh entry changes the math.
What remains unresolved is not whether the Main Event matters, but how much it will add once registration closes and the field settles. The series has already done enough to look like a landmark festival; the next phase will show whether the WSOP Super Circuit Canada can also become the one that rewrites the Canadian prize-pool record.
