Andy Williams was hospitalized after an apparent injury during a professional wrestling match on Saturday, September 5, after a bout at Enjoy Wrestling’s “Five Years” event in Millvale, Pennsylvania, ended with him unable to stand. Williams, who wrestles professionally as The Butcher, stayed down on the canvas after the pinfall as medical staff moved in.
The match was part of a tag team title bout with The Blade for the Enjoy Tag Team Championship at Mr. Smalls Theatre. Paramedics entered the ring, began treating Williams, and used chest compressions and a defibrillator before he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The emergency turned a live wrestling card into a medical scene in front of the crowd. Enjoy Wrestling canceled the remainder of the event after Williams was removed, underscoring how quickly a planned finish gave way to a response no promotion wants to manage in the middle of a show.
The incident came one day after Williams and The Blade hosted an advanced wrestling seminar for independent talent in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood. That added another layer to the weekend for Williams, who has spent much of the past decade splitting time between wrestling and music, first as a founding member and guitarist of Every Time I Die and later while continuing in the ring and launching Atomic Rule.
What remains unanswered is the simplest and most important piece: his condition after the hospital transport. At the time of publication, there was no official update, leaving the focus on the severity of the treatment he required and the fact that the bout was completed even as the situation was becoming an emergency.
