Nebraska’s top high school football teams finished week 2 with a split set of results, and the scoreboard reshaped the early race across the state. Omaha Westside moved to 2-0 by beating Lee’s Summit 35-14, while other ranked programs followed with wins, losses and a few shutouts that quickly separated the unbeaten from the rest.
The week-2 scoreboard covered the top 10 teams in all eight classes in Nebraska, which is why the Husker football schedule search is drawing attention now: it is the first broad look at how the season is settling in. Millard South also improved to 2-0 with a 24-14 win over Lee’s Summit North, and Papillion-La Vista South stayed unbeaten after a 27-14 victory over Papillion-La Vista, giving the early rankings real shape after only two weeks.
Several other results showed the same pattern. Millard North fell to 1-1 after beating Lincoln Standing Bear 28-0, Bennington improved to 2-0 with a 30-10 win over Millard West, and Omaha Creighton Prep moved to 1-1 by beating Omaha Central 42-7. Elkhorn South also went to 1-1 with a 38-14 win over Kearney, while Lincoln Southwest stayed unbeaten at 2-0 after a 43-0 win over Fremont.
But the cleanest records were not all in the same direction. Bellevue West, which entered week 2 at 0-1, dropped to 0-2 after losing to Omaha North 15-7, a start that leaves little room for error this early. Norris also fell to 0-2 after losing to Scottsbluff 24-17, while Plattsmouth moved to 1-1 after a 42-6 loss to Gretna and Lincoln Pius X went to 1-1 with a 14-7 win over Omaha Gross.
The rest of the scoreboard kept the pressure on across the state. Ashland-Greenwood improved to 2-0 by beating Syracuse 41-17, Sidney moved to 2-0 with a 49-7 win over Sterling, and Columbus Lakeview stayed unbeaten at 2-0 after beating Raymond Central 35-13. With week 2 in the books, the early hierarchy is already starting to look familiar: the unbeaten teams are stacking wins, and the teams that slipped twice now have to chase the season instead of setting the pace.
The next round of games will matter because these standings have already created separation, and the teams sitting at 2-0 will carry that edge into the weeks ahead.
