Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been updated to Ver. 13.0.5, and Nintendo says the patch fixes a single bug tied to invalid data from sent and received online battles. It is a small update, but it lands after a long wait and gives players a new reason to check their saved replays before installing it.

The timing matters because Ver. 13.0.5 is the first new patch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in over a year. Version 13.0.4 arrived in June 2025, and this new release breaks that stretch with a narrow repair focused on online battle data rather than any broader balance pass or feature change.

Nintendo said there may be compatibility issues with replays from Ver. 9.0.0 to 13.0.4. Replays from Ver. 8.1.0 and earlier are not compatible. For players who want to keep what they have recorded, the company advised converting those replays into videos before installing the update.

That conversion path is tucked inside Vault, then Replays, then Replay Data, then Convert to Video. The workaround matters because replay files can be fragile across updates, and this patch does not appear to change that basic rule. It fixes the online battle bug, but it also raises the same old problem for anyone sitting on footage they do not want to lose.

So the update does two things at once: it clears a specific online issue and forces players to decide what they want to preserve before they move on. For a game that has gone more than a year without a new patch, even a small one can still affect what survives the next launch.
