The Ravens have signed Jake Moody to their practice squad, giving Baltimore another kicker option after spending all summer without adding competition for Tyler Loop. The move adds a new layer to a position the team had left alone for months.
Moody, 26, has been through a rough stretch of roster turnover. He lost his starting job in Washington to Drew Stevens this past month, then landed with Baltimore after a 2025 season that took him through the 49ers, Bears and Commanders.
The timing matters because Baltimore did not chase a veteran kicking fight for Loop while the rest of the summer passed. Then it turned to Moody, a former third-round pick of the 49ers out of Michigan in the 2023 draft, whose path has kept moving since his rookie deal ran through 2026 and his role in San Francisco disappeared after just one game.
That earlier exit never stopped the churn. Moody signed with the Bears' practice squad, then was added to Washington's active roster in November 2025, re-signed to a one-year deal this offseason and waived again in August. Each stop has left the same question hanging over him: whether he can hold a job long enough to matter for more than a week.
On the field, the numbers were not empty. In nine games this year for the 49ers, Bears and Commanders, Moody made 19 of 23 field goals and 15 of 16 extra point attempts. That is enough production to keep him in the conversation, even if the stops keep coming faster than the stability.
What happens next is straightforward, and unresolved. Moody is on the practice squad now, which gives Baltimore depth and gives him another chance, but it does not yet answer whether the Ravens will push him onto the active roster or keep Tyler Loop untouched after a summer of waiting.
