That matters now because the schedule reshapes when supporters can watch some of the league’s biggest fixtures, from Arsenal against Leeds and Man Utd against Spurs on 10 October to Newcastle against Everton on 2 November. For anyone tracking the broadcast plan, this is the run that sets the calendar for the next several weekends, and the switch from BST to GMT lands in the middle of it.
On 10 October, Arsenal played Leeds at 12:30 and Man Utd played Spurs at 17:30. The next day, Crystal Palace played Nott'm Forest and Hull City played Everton at 14:00, before Liverpool played Man City at 16:30. Coventry City then played Newcastle at 20:00 on 12 October. The following weekend brought Everton against Chelsea at 12:30 and Newcastle against Aston Villa at 17:30 on 17 October, then Bournemouth against Sunderland, Brighton against Crystal Palace and Leeds against Man Utd all at 14:00 on 18 October, with Nott'm Forest against Arsenal at 16:30 that evening. Spurs then played Coventry City at 20:00 on 19 October.
The late-October fixtures continue the pattern. Ipswich played Nott'm Forest at 20:00 on Friday 23 October, Aston Villa played Man City at 12:30 on Saturday 24 October, and Chelsea played Spurs at 17:30 later that day. After the clock change, Crystal Palace played Newcastle, Hull City played Brentford and Man Utd played Bournemouth at 14:00 GMT on Sunday 25 October, with Sunderland against Leeds at 16:30 GMT. Chelsea then played Man Utd at 12:30 on 31 October, Spurs played Crystal Palace at 17:30, Aston Villa played Fulham at 14:00 on 1 November, Liverpool played Arsenal at 16:30, and Newcastle played Everton at 20:00 on 2 November.
Not every adjustment was driven by TV alone. Several fixtures were also moved around Europe commitments the Thursday before, which is why Bournemouth, Sunderland and Crystal Palace were marked on 18 October, and why Crystal Palace and Bournemouth were marked again on 25 October. That detail explains the asterisks in the broadcast list: the calendar was not just being shaped for audiences at home, but also around clubs that had to fit league football in after midweek European games.
What remains open is not the shape of the next few weekends, but whether more revision follows. For now, the Premier League has set the live broadcast slate through the first days of November, and the schedule is fixed around those TV slots and the clubs still juggling Thursday nights.
