Odell Beckham Jr. is set to play for the New York Giants against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, a preseason return that puts him back in Giants blue for the first time since 2018. John Harbaugh told the media on Wednesday that Beckham will be on the field when the Giants host the Vikings at 1:00 p.m.
For Giants fans, that is the moment they have been waiting to see. Beckham, 33, has not suited up for Big Blue since 2018, when his run with the club ended before he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. He said his year away from the game in 2025 gave him time to heal spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically, and Saturday offers the first public sign of whether that reset has brought him back ready to contribute.
The timing matters because this is the first of three preseason chances for roster hopefuls to show they belong on the 53-man roster. Beckham is part of that fight too, even while sitting on the third string of the initial depth chart. He is competing with Jalin Hyatt, Braxton Berrios, Dalen Cambre and JuJu Smith-Schuster, which makes his return more than a cameo and less than a guarantee.
That is the part that keeps the story from being just a reunion. Beckham is back in the building, back in the uniform and back in the conversation, but the roster math still has to be solved before the real season begins. If he gets any meaningful preseason run on Saturday, it will be the clearest sign yet that the Giants want to see whether the old connection can still matter again.
