Emily Hampshire is joining the second season of Heated Rivalry as Vanessa, one of five new cast members added as the series moves toward its spring 2027 premiere. Robert Naylor has also been tapped to play Wyatt Hayes, while Edvin Ryding, Sabrina Jalees and Priyanka round out the newly announced additions.

The casting matters because the series is already carrying a built-in audience around Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, and now it is widening that world before a single scene of Season 2 has aired. Deadline reported the five additions, giving Hampshire a named role in a show that has been kept tightly under wraps since its first season made the leap from the books to the screen.

Heated Rivalry is a Crave Original produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment in association with Bell Media’s Crave, and the second season is set to premiere on HBO Max in the U.S., Australia, Europe, Latin America and Asia. The U.S. rollout does not include the UK, Ireland, Spain or Turkey, which makes the distribution map for the new season narrower than the buzz around the casting might suggest.

That split is part of the story now. Season 1 followed rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov and adapted Book 2, Heated Rivalry, while also drawing from Book 1, Game Changer. Season 2 is set to keep Shane and Ilya in play by tackling Book 6, The Long Game, and to bring in a separate couple through Role Model, which means the new cast is not just decoration; it is the structure of the season itself.

For Hampshire, the assignment gives the season a recognizable face at the center of its expansion. For viewers, it signals that Season 2 is not simply returning to the old rivalry, but building a larger story around it before spring 2027 arrives.
