Tom Segura says his divorce from Christina Pazsitzky has reached the point where he will not keep talking about it in public. On the August 12 episode of Your Mom's House, he called the split awful and horrible, then said, “This is it for me. I'm not gonna talk about this [more].”
The comments arrived after fans had already heard Pazsitzky address the breakup on the August 5 episode of the same show. That is why Segura's remarks matter now: they are the first detailed public explanation from him, and they came on a program that helped build the pair's shared career through Your Mom's House and YMH Studios.
Segura described the divorce as emotionally rough and said, “Your emotions change many times a day. You don't feel the same all the time. It's really tough on you.” He added that he and Pazsitzky had been recording separate episodes for many months, saying, “The truth is that we have been recording separate episodes for a long time now because everything that people know is not new to this.” He also said, “It's been many, many months,” and, “We both decided to record separately. That's just what we are doing.”
That separation behind the microphone helps explain the public split without answering every private question. Segura and Pazsitzky married in 2008 and, by his account, the breakup has not turned hostile. “We're not combative,” he said. “We talk every day. I support Christina in everything she does, [and] she supports me.”
The sharpest part of the story is what does not fit the usual breakup script: Segura says the divorce is awful, yet he also says the two are still in regular contact. Pazsitzky told Duncan Trussell that they had tried for years to save their relationship, which suggests the end came after a long effort rather than a sudden break. Even so, Segura is drawing a line around the subject now.
What he says comes next is simple. He and Pazsitzky are focusing on their two sons, Ellis and Julian, and he does not plan to revisit the divorce publicly. “Our focus, as you would imagine, is just on our children,” he said. “We are just trying to provide the best life we can for them and we are trying to take care of them.”
