Corte Argentino USA LLC is recalling about 29,628 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina after the products entered the United States without the required FSIS import reinspection. The beef was distributed to distributors and retailers in Florida and Texas.
The recall, announced Friday, covers FrigorIfico Gorina SAIC boneless beef Top Sirloin Butt, Eye Round, Topside Cap Off, Flat and Knuckle. The products were produced between May 15 and May 20 and carry use or freeze-by dates from September 15 to September 20, along with Argentinian establishment number EST. N° OF. 2025 and shipping mark 26644-AA.
The size of the recall makes the issue larger than a simple paperwork failure. Imported meat is supposed to move through a chain of checks before it reaches commerce, and FSIS says incoming shipments must meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service requirements before being reinspected by FSIS. That step matters because the agency uses it to catch problems before imported products are distributed.
What stands out here is that the beef reached Florida and Texas even though it had not gone through that required reinspection. The recall notice does not say how many distributors or retailers received the products, only that they were sent into both states, which leaves the distribution trail unclear even as the affected lots are now being pulled back.
FSIS said the problem was found during routine inspection activities, and it has reported no confirmed illnesses or injuries tied to the recalled beef. The unresolved question is not whether the products were flagged, but how they moved from import to distribution without the checkpoint that was supposed to stop them.
