A wildfire reported near E Harvard Rd and Wildwood Canyon Rd in Burbank, California, prompted evacuation orders on Friday after crews moved in to fight what the City of Burbank called the Walnut Fire.
The city said fire crews were responding with help from regional partners, and it ordered evacuations for DeBell Restaurant and Golf Course and Stough Canyon Nature Center. It also said hiking trails in the area were closed until further notice, a sign that the fire was active enough to force immediate restrictions even as the full extent of the blaze was still being worked out.
The shutdown reached beyond the canyon. The City of Burbank said the Starlight Bowl concert scheduled for August 8 was cancelled, turning the fire from a hillside emergency into a same-day disruption for people who were set to attend a public event.
