Rick Devens made the biggest move in Bb28 this week, winning the BB Time Capsule and earning the Diamond Power of Veto after Episode 12. That one-two punch pushed him higher in the power rankings and gave him a tool that could redraw the vote without warning.
It matters now because the house has already been thinned out by the exits of Rome and Jason, leaving the Toolshed with even more control and fewer real obstacles. Devens is inside that super majority, so the power shift is not just about a prize on paper. It is about who can set the next target and who has to guess at it.
Devens has also built his position the old-fashioned way, through relationships and timing. He has been an HOH in Big Brother Season 28, and he has managed to pull Drew and Barrett away from the idea of keeping Mallory in a possible vote against LaLa. That kind of social leverage is part of why he remains so hard to touch, even as others look for an opening.
The Diamond Power of Veto raises the stakes because it is not a normal veto. A regular veto can only remove one player from the block and force a replacement. The diamond version adds another layer of control, giving its holder the ability to change the shape of the week without having to show every hand in the room. That is why Angela seeming to realize Devens had it, and seeming fine with him not telling her, matters more than a casual nod in conversation. It suggests he may already have cover for keeping the advantage quiet.
Still, the picture is not perfectly clean for Devens. He is beginning to sour on Drew and Barrett, which is the kind of drift that can turn an alliance edge into a future problem. Jason had already been thinking about targeting Devens before his eviction, and that makes the current calm feel more fragile than the numbers suggest.
Mallory is the other name to watch. She won the Power of Veto in Week 1, then won the BB Blockbuster this week, and she has now gone 2-for-2 in taking herself off the block this season. On her side of the house, she may be the sole comp beast left, which is exactly why she remains dangerous and vulnerable at the same time. She even tried to flip Barrett to her side, and the game logic was plain enough: a vote to keep Mallory would have been better for Barrett’s game.
That is the friction in Bb28 right now. Devens has the stronger hand, the better numbers and a major hidden power, but he is also starting to lose some trust where he needs it most. If he keeps the Diamond Power of Veto quiet, he can press that advantage a little longer; if he shows it too soon, the house will know exactly where to aim next.
