Lyric Mederios was sent home from Big Brother 28 on Thursday night after Drew Campbell won BB Blockbuster and pulled himself off the block before the live eviction vote. The house then voted 8-3 to evict Lyric, ending the week with the fourth houseguest leaving the game and 13 still inside the house.

That result mattered because Melody Morris spent much of the week looking like the likely target, but the vote turned late and left Lyric as the one going out. Entering Episode 15, Melody, Drew and Lyric were the three houseguests on the block, and the shift to Lyric blindsided several members of the Red Alliance, including outgoing HOH Haley Thogmartin. For the people still playing, the message was clear: the week did not break along the lines it appeared to earlier in the day.

Drew’s safety came through BB Blockbuster, which he won by completing the Paw Patrol Dino Puzzle competition. Once he came down, the remaining votes had to settle on one of the other two nominees, and the count showed where the house finally landed. An 8-3 eviction is not a narrow call; it shows a majority had aligned, while a smaller bloc either stayed with Melody or could not pull the vote back in her direction.

The late change also exposed how shaky the week’s target had been. Melody was the apparent name for much of the week, but the house moved off her and onto Lyric instead, a turn that suggests the eviction decision was still being negotiated as the live vote approached. That is what made the result so jarring for the people who had been reading the house one way all week.

Lyric became the fourth houseguest voted off Big Brother 28, and the eviction reset the game for Week 5 with a new Head of Household competition ahead. CBS said the Wall Competition will return on the next episode, and Big Brother: Unlocked is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7 at 8 p.m. ET as Episode 16. After a week that flipped late, the next round starts with the house having to decide whether the split that surfaced here hardens or breaks again.
